About SUMMSTOFF

The SUMMSTOFF Imkereigenossenschaft e.G. based in Ibbenbüren-Laggenbeck was founded in 2021 by Maximilian Urban – one of Germany's youngest professional beekeepers. Following the principle “As regional as possible, as national as necessary”, SUMMSTOFF bundles German professional beekeepers in a cooperative and brings 100% German honey with clear origin labelling on every jar to retail and to its own online shop. Founder Maximilian Urban himself keeps around 1,200 bee colonies – across the cooperative it is around 5,000 in total.

The story

Maximilian Urban was on his way to professional football – with stints at the youth academies of VfL Osnabrück, RB Leipzig and SC Paderborn. What prompted him to rethink was a lemon tree in the family garden in Spain: it bore no fruit – until bees took care of the pollination.

“No bees, no harvest.”

In 2021, Urban founded SUMMSTOFF – with the aim of bringing German professional beekeepers together in a cooperative, enabling fair collaboration and bringing regional honey with honest origin labelling to the shops.
